## Description

[Ingot (Invar)](/wiki/ingot-invar) is a metal alloy. It is used in crafting of various items. It is loosely based on the real-life Invar alloy, that is notable for its low thermal expansion coefficient and high chemical resistance compared to pure iron. As such, it is used in fabrication of more advanced devices and items associated with high temperatures or pressures, precise mechanics, and few unrelated items.

## Obtaining

It is created by smelting equal parts [Iron](/wiki/iron-ore) and [Nickel](/wiki/nickel-ore) in a [Furnace](/wiki/furnace). Requiring higher-than-normal temperature, production of Invar notoriously requires a narrow band of pressure. In general, that can be achieved by feeding the Furnace with sufficient amount of fuel, then by releasing exhaust gases until the required pressure is reached, while the temperature remains sufficiently high.


Easiest way to get this is as follows:


1. Hook up a release valve to the outgoing pipe on the furnace.
1. Open the valve to release all pressure and don't forget to close after that.
1. Put in 15 oxide and 15 volatiles
1. Put in 150 iron and 150 nickel. You can put bigger amount eg. 200 iron and 200 nickel.
1. Wait for pressure to drop to 20MPa.
1. Profit!
