## Description

[Ingot (Solder)](/wiki/ingot-solder) is a metal alloy. It is used in crafting of various [machines](/wiki/categorymachines) and items. It's a welding substrate with low melting point, that is used for welding parts together without the destructively high temperatures associated with conventional seam weldling. As such, Solder is used in fabrication of tools and devices requiring sensitive high-precision electronics and mechanics.

## Obtaining

It is created by smelting equal parts [Iron](/wiki/iron-ore) and [Lead](/wiki/lead-ore) in a [Furnace](/wiki/furnace). It requires a relatively low temperature within normal smelting pressure range to be produced. While it is possible to simply wait until the Furnace radiates enough heat over time, a deliberate smelting process involves igniting a small amount of fuel, followed by an injection of cold inert gases to cool down the chamber to a necessary value. A player can also cycle through several stacks of any ore, or a few units of ice, to achieve the same cooling effect.

Hot planets like [Vulcan](/wiki/vulcan) and [Venus](/wiki/venus) provide naturally hot atmospheric gas, that can be cooled immediately to a temperature appropriate for Solder smelting without the use of any fuel .
