Description

"Direct Heat Exchangers equalize the temperature of the two input networks." — Stationpedia Exchanges heat between two pipe networks. It's next upgrade is the Large Direct Heat Exchanger.

Usage

The kit produces 3 versions, gas to gas, liquid to gas and liquid to liquid. Each version has 2 pipe connections for pipe atmospheres whose contents' heat will be exchanged. The heat exchanger itself does not have an internal volume and instead acts directly on the input pipe networks. A meter on the side displays the heat exchange rate in joules (per tick).

Heat Exchange

Heat flows from hot to cold, flowing faster the greater the temperature difference. For small heat exchangers the rate will follow 100 joules/tick per degree celcius of difference.

Notes

• Can be placed in any orientation
• Gas in the pipe does not need to be flowing to exchange heat effectively. Stationeers treats each pipe network as one object, so cooling one end of a pipe will immediately cool everywhere else in the pipe.
