Ore (Silicon)

Obtaining

Ore (Silicon) is a common ore that can be mined throughout the surface and underground of a planet or an asteroid using a Mining Drill or Pickaxe. It can also be obtained by processing dirty ore from a Deep Miner using a Centrifuge or Combustion Centrifuge. Since Dirty Ore consists exclusively of Silicon, it can be also tossed into the Furnace directly without the necessity to process it, which will convert it into the Silicon Ore.

Processing

Silicon ore can be turned into silicon ingots by smelting it in an Arc Furnace, Furnace, or Advanced Furnace. Silicon is also an ingredient in Stellite.

Smelting in an Arc Furnace requires 100 Energy. Using a Furnace or Advanced Furnace requires the following conditions:

Pressure (Pa)Temperature (K)Temperature (°C)
Min100 kPa900 K627 °C
Max100 MPa100 kK99.7 k°C

Smelting one silicon ore produces the following gases:

1 molPollutant
1 molNitrogen
1 molCarbon Dioxide
